He's a really good professor; his lectures and tests are pretty straightforward as long as you study and pay attention. Especially since this course is something that he created. There are topics you'd never guess would be interesting until you take the course. Just, be sure to show up because participation marks do help :)
John is fantastic and I learned a lot of valuable editing skills using Adobe. He sticks to class content and away from imposing his political point of view which is a common issue amongst many other profs in communications. Quite frankly he is an asset to the Communications program.
Such a good prof. Interesting lectures, assignments are well explained, and hes just a nice guy. Most assignments were completion marks (design workshops, in-class activity, weekly discussion post), and the media assignments were well explained (check list). the group assignment was the worst cause people just dont do work these days. overall good.
most assignments are about self-reflection. awesome if you have the time to sit down and think about it, but not so awesome if the final assignment worth 30% of your final grade is given out and due in the middle of exam week
John is a very kind prof and I enjoyed coming to his class. He tries his best to make it interactive but low participation makes it hard. Although there have been many insightful discussions. Not an easy marker but super flexible with extensions, illness, etc.
Professor Shiga responded to any questions I had quickly via Email and clarified concepts very well during office hours. His feedback is very good and it is helpful for improving the next assignments. Very kind and helpful overall.
Dr. Shiga is a great prof. He is very knowledgeable about the material he teaches. The exam is long (100 questions/3 hours) but it is easy enough that most people finish in 2 hours. A big portion of the grade (30%) is tied to weekly activities and an online simulation (freebies). The assigned readings were mostly boring with a few exceptions.
Prof. Shiga was very flexible and understanding this term. He was great, especially considering how difficult COVID has been on our studies.
SImply an awful professor. Takes forever to respond to emails, lectures are boring and does not provide timely feedback on assignments.
There is ALOT to read! I dont think this course helped me in any way, the simulations were a waste of time and the amount of things we have to do in this course is ridiculous. You dont need a textbook but his slides dont give you much either. You would have to attend class. ALSO, The exam (online) is RIDICULOUSLY long!
