Julia Fawcett

While Professor Fawcett is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the course, I found it difficult to follow the lectures in class as she didn't contextualize the readings. She also came off as being impersonal which made it difficult to speak to her about assignments and course material.

Hilarious. Tough but helpful.

Hands down best prof I've ever had. Genuinely wish I'd had her earlier in my uni career because she really improved my skills as a student and English scholar. Super nice, makes class funny and interesting (who knew I'd find 18C Lit interesting?), gives good feedback on papers. I had her for both 910 and 531 and she was equally great for both.

Amazing prof, one of the best at Ryerson. Passionate about literature and really knowledgable about the material she teaches. Teaches in an engaging, relatable way. Cares about the success of her students and always goes out of her way to help you (even outside of her office hours). Really challenges and encourages you to do your best work.

Class was fine enough. Did pretty well. Didn't learn much, though. There is a special place in hell for profs that constantly tell you that they're doing things because they're a prof. If i hear "As a professor I..." One more time....

She is very energetic and passionate about English, especially narratives. She does her best to make the class fun, for example our last unit was based on Arrested Development. She is very thorough explaining text and assignments, (class discussion will help your understanding) and I felt she was a fair marker. I would recommend taking her class.

Great professor.

Prof Fawcett is probably the most passionate teacher I've ever had- she sets out to inspire you to love literature as much as she does! Definitely provides great insight on how to close read. Her lectures are organized and entertaining... she is able to engage a full classroom even at 8 am!

Great prof, learned a lot from this class. She was very thorough with concepts and was excellent with close reading. I wish she had given us more freedom with our assignments although marks were fair. Gives a lot of credit for creativity. Loved.
