Sadly, he passed away during winter break. RIP to the guy, he was a good prof. Course itself was easy if you studied for it. Midterm and exam were mostly memorization, but were only short-answer questions. Prof Ian gave in-person mcq tests each week, and lectures were long and dry.
The best prof! He also summarized chapters for us so readings were so much easier.
The midterm and exam were easy if you study for them from the slides and summarized notes. What I didn't like were the quizzes and long lectures. Ian's voice is very monotone and you can get board very easily. I did not learn a single thing in the lecture room. I had to teach my self everything. Its an easy A but lectures are draining
- weekly quizzes are all in person on a Scantron - weekly quizzes often times do not make sense - speaks very slowly, always takes up the entre 3 hour lecture time even when unnecessary - usually waits till the last moment to do the quiz to keep students from leaving even when doing nothing in class
I really appreciate the fact that this professor returns marks back so quickly! Also, as long as you go to class and make good notes, the assessments were fairly simple! Just put in effort.
He's actually a really good professor and cares about his students. He makes the readings easy, and the quizzes actually help you understand where you stand in the course. If you're doing all the readings, you'll be golden for the exams.
Honestly, I loved Ian. Lectures are super dry but I would recommend going because the readings are even worse! By going to class you don't have to go through the textbook as in depth as you would if you skipped. He's a mediocre marker on assignments but pretty easy on tests. Tests are also not too hard, just focus on the main points in the readings
I'm not even a business student, never showed up to class and still managed an A. Everything for this course is posted online so as long as you do the readings, you'll do fine. Also, he returns all tests and assignments really quickly and I find him to be an easy marker.
Ian is a great professor and has a great sense of humor. The course itself is very dry, which has probably contributed to some of the comments I've read here. He is also a very fair marker and can make the tests much more challenging given the content. Finally, responds to emails promptly which is always appreciated. Easy recommendation.
He is not the best prof but the course itself is boring, the way he speaks wasnt so clear to understand. there is no slides its all readings that he posts online, but he is very easy with grading.
