Melissa Toffanin

Professor Toffanin is seriously such a kind, caring, amazing professor. She puts her students above herself and goes above and beyond to ensure we understand the concepts she teaches. Very clear lectures & extremely fair exams. She is the only professor I've had who can detach her proficiency with the subject and see it from our lens. Please take!

She is great and cares about her students, she will miss the occasional class, but moves the class to zoom and it saves me a trip downtown so I don't mind.

It is hard to not do well in their courses. They provided so much additional practise material such as practise exams and exams and answers from previous years, and they have a review class for the final where they do exam-style questions step by step with explanations. Also the solutions were posted online with video tutorials. 10/10 professor.

Awesome Prof. Had midterm and final review bookings. Caring. Fair marking. In my midterm exam review, she increased my grade by 2 marks. Explains the lectures and excel clearly. She is sometimes sick unfortunately, and moves the class online, which I wasn't a fan of, but her classes still remained engaging and productive.

Genuinely a great prof. Fairly written exam, and a 11 hour turn around for the makeup exam grade. Was initially worried about having to drop a course (because of being on probation due to the INC) but Melissa got the grades back to us incredibly promptly! Practice a lot to do really well in the class.

Her lectures are amazing she explains things very thoroughly. She's wants her students to succeed, and she is very sweet. She tries to make class as enjoyable as possible and she always tells these slick jokes. Anyways, if you can get her for AFF310, cherish the moment.

Prof Toffanin is the best finance professor I have ever had. I wish she could teach all my courses. She cares deeply about her students, and her lectures are so clear and make sense. She explains the Excel questions thoroughly and is always open to questions. She even held a review session before the final. She's the best!!

This is already a very hard course, I had taken it online in hopes I would be getting recorded lectures to go back to when needed. She posted the first two module recordings fully, but for the rest she just put solving examples with no real explanations. If we have to do all by ourself whats the point in having a prof? Useless. 0/10. DON'T TAKE HER

Overall an amazing prof! She gave a breakdown of how the content of the midterm and final exams would be distributed, making it easier to see what we needed to focus on. Provided resources to help us study such as past exams, and the actual exam questions were similar to what was taught in class! Would recommend!

Lectures are recorded and course materials are easily accessible online. She also posts previous exam solutions, which are VERY helpful. There are in-class D2L quizzes that can start at random times, making attendance "mandatory". Honestly, ditch the quizzes and make the classes online-only - this would be an easy 10/10
