She is so sweet and an amazing person! She is a bit of a tough grader, but if you put in effort, you will be rewarded :)
She gives great feedback and is so helpful. But she is a very tough grader.
you can tell she enjoys teaching this subject, average workload, nothing super hard, overall i liked her class
I had her for FCD 222 and she was great. Lectures were interactive, interesting, fun, and she clearly explained things. At the end of each lecture, there is a period where we have to take a small quiz, that is the only participation required. Assignment grading criteria wasn't very clear to me as well. The coding itself isn't hard at all.
Lectures are super long and the content is difficult to understand. Tests are online, open book, and the information can all be found on the slides. Attendance isn't mandatory, but there's a small assignment (individual and in groups) at the end of every class that she marks for completion. We couldn't choose our own groups for the group project.
Had Field for the labs and I don't think a lot of these ratings are fair. Yes she's a bit more tough on grading than other profs (it's a bit hard to get anything above 80%) but I honestly think she gives great feedback. The labs are meant to give basic understanding of adobe and a lot of stuff you need to learn yourself but she can help if you ask.
I had Dr Jessica Field for FCD222 - coding for creatives (not RTA221) and she was a wonderful professor. Although I struggled a bit with the content (I'm not very good at coding lol), her lectures were excellent and she was really helpful! You can tell she really cares about her students & the content she teaches. I wish I had this class in person
Jessica teaches the lab portion of an introductory digital media course, but grades as if she expects you to have experience in the adobe applications. She is funny and nice, but sometimes teaches with an annoyed undertone. Feedback is very clear and her in-class tutorials are enjoyable.
Jessica is arguably the toughest grader I have out of all of my other classes. To even achieve anything higher than an 85% at most would have you be at expert level working with digital media. However, Despite the tough marking, Jessica is very helpful when asking for feedback and will provide insightful recommendations on how to better you work.
All I can say is wow. I have never put more work into projects like I am talking staying up all night for weeks trying my best to learn softwares she barely teaches. I spent hours on end doing an assingment for her to recieve a barely passing mark simply because she didnt like it with no feedback. DO NOT take her I learnt the hardway.
