Theres no grading rubrics to any of the assignments which is something Ive never seen in a course before. Considering 75% of your grade is based off these written assignments, that is kinda alarming. So the grading definitely feels arbitrary. He also cancelled half of the lectures last minute. I would not choose this course again
stay away, you have been warned
He is a hit or miss with the students. He is nice to some, but very unapproachable to others. He also talks about unrelated topics in class. It's hard to sit down for his lecture when the materials are so off topic. He also is not good with clear instructions. He is sometimes hard to reach.
Ted is honestly a great professor, but his behavior makes it hard to rate him highly. The course is weekly 1–2 hour videos, much of which is watching YouTube videos or chatting about unrelated topics. He doesn't posts clear instructions or rubrics, making it hard to know how to get top grades. Email responses from him are borderline disrespectful.
Best prof at TMU, lectures were fun and engaging and he's super lenient. I highly recommend taking this course if you're looking to take a bird upper lib or to boost your gpa.
Wonderful professor! The midterm was high school-level chemistry in person, which appeared as a surprise to many people due to its difficulty. Notwithstanding the midterm, the rest of the course was smooth sailing. The course paper was split into two portions, and the final was a take-home. The only caveat, the professor is too nonchalant.
Do your due diligence and you will get an easy A+ kind of course. The best of the best courses, for sure. If you are looking to boost GPA with this professor, look no further.
Ted Petroff is genuinely one of the best souls I've met in my 3 years of university. My cousin passed away and I told him almost 20 days after term papers were due, yet he still let me submit with no penalties. I struggled on the in-person midterm, but the online final was fair and he gave me a 100. Truly an amazing professor.
This is the best prof at TMU. You can very easily not go to class and get an A as he posts all the lectures. Theres 2 papers which he marks very easily and midterm & final but they are not hard at all. Do not need chem / bio background for this, its such an easy course.
Jumps around during lectures. Slides are irrelevant. Gives no feedback. He thinks he's so cool with his stupid music selection before every lecture... bro why are you wasting our time??? Also super sketchy agreeing to meet students at the back of the coffee shop and offering to give students his personal cell phone number. Useless course.
