Lorne is a very caring prof. I did this class as part of my Finance minor and found it fairly easy. It is important to show up for class as there are 3 pop quizzes- 1 of which he drops( lowest grade). Papers were easily graded. Final was ok- you need to study.
Prof Lorne truly cares about students. I found this course to be very beneficial. The textbook is outdated but the novel is super interesting. He is a lenient marker and gives good feedback. He also brings real-world experience as he has a plethora of experience in fin. You must work for your final exam mark because it is cumulative and in depth.
A fantastic professor that uses his experience in the financial field to expand upon his lectures and provide great career advice. He is a very lenient marker and does not care about spelling and grammar for the final exam. Make sure to show up for class however as quizzes aside from the first one are random (he does drop the lowest of the 3).
One of my favourite professors. Knows his stuff and cares about his students. The course is very interesting. The homework is short readings, no midterm.
Excellent professor who stresses the importance of class participation and professionalism. The guest lectures were wonderful and he has oodles of experience himself as well which all contributes to a great learning experience.
Good guy Lorne. Its just that the book is so dry and often off topic. Therefore, it needs to be changed. Otherwise, he knows his stuff and is very knowledgeable. He would also clarify any confusions you may have regarding the assignments and the course itself.
He gives around 70-80 on average for the group project and individual assignment. But on the final exam for the multiple choice part, there were a few questions where he gives 4 direct quotes from the textbook and asked which one of the quotes were NOT from the book. That was the most screwed up exam I've done.
He is a great guy he will always try his best to make sure his students receive all the help they need The group project he marks fairly, the individual assignment be sure to use examples to back up your points, and the final exam use his slides and know the guest lectures really well. If you go to class and understand the main points youll do well
Class was relatively easy. Never attended one lecture, just ended up spending 4-5 days studying for the final. Go over all of his powerpoints in preparation for the final and know major concepts. I must say that the final was extremely fair. Expect a mixture of M/C and short answer for final but very easy. Group report is straight forward.
