Marni is SUPER caring, but she marks super hard. I worked so hard on an assignment, just to get a B-. Not motivating at all. Other than that, I would not take her class again, she does reach out to students who are struggling mentally though, but honestly I'm tryna get a good grade
I enjoyed Marni's class. While lecture heavy she takes the time to go over assignments and show examples of what she is looking for. She has a great sense of humour and wit. I felt connected and quickly realize she is a pleasure to be around. Be prepared to receive in-depth feedback on assignments as she thoroughly reads through assignments.
I was nervous about the course after reading the reviews but I found Marni to be extremely caring/ helpful/feedback was insightful. Some of the lectures were long/ boring -she was always there if you had questions. I think she needs to work on her manners when students bring up something doesn't work (ie; a link). I would take another course w/her.
Honestly, I would not have Marni again. She is a tough grader and expects a lot from the students, even in a pandemic. She tries to explain the material but ends up overexplaining that you are more confused than before. She is stubborn, and when you say you can't access the link, she responds with, "well, it worked for me." Never again.
When reading these ratings, I was nervous to have Marni as my professor this semester. However, I am stunned at how caring she is towards her students. She is not rude as some of the comments here claim she is. I am in the process of completing her course and can say she is a good professor who genuinely cares about her students.
-keeps you after class -calls students out -very rude -makes students cry -gives back to back assignments (10 page papers) -horrible teacher
Marni is very knowledgeable and seeks to push each student to reach their highest potential. While this can be stressful, her feedback pulls no punches and can be enlightening. You MUST be on top of your coursework. Personally I feel that her feedback could be more helpful; she tells you where you need to improve, but not how to.
She likes what she teachers and is passionate about it, however she takes far too long to explain things before getting into them, and she does call out students in class or pick on them if they're doing something she doesn't like. She can also be condescending and was really rude to a stand in teacher was had showing us how to do an art exercise.
Marni is very passionate about what she teaches. Sometimes she does get a little too passionate and rambles on while losing some students' attention in the process, but that never bothered me. She supports you when needed but will call you out if you ask a stupid question that she answered before. Beware of misusing electronics in her class...
Marni is well knowledgable and passionate about what she's teaching, however in her lectures she tends to talk a lot on her personal experiences which can get a bit boring. They're relevant stories but... you know how it is. She also tends to call out students in the middle of the class if she suspects that you're on a phone or on social media.
