Frustrations are misplaced. CMKT 100 is poorly planned, but Mr. Dauphinee did not design it. I found him helpful and consistent with the promised 48-response time. The course teaches definition and theory, but tests on application; take the extra initiative for a good grade. Textbook use is cover-to-cover. Search YouTube for metrics clarification.
This Prof should not be a prof. He made the course extremely difficult. It is a 100- level first year course and he marks as if it is a fourth year course. His expectations are extremely high. His test/exam questions are extremely critical and do not match textbook material at all. He is very hard to get in touch with and does not communicate well.
Warning. Do not take this professor. He asks questions that are not even covered. In the introduction course he asked the most strict questions. Made everyone's life harder with unreasonable tests and quiz. He expects you to have a PHD in marketing before taking this course. He should not be teaching entry level course and Ryerson MUST replace him.
Avoid this professor at all costs. Extremely tough and unrealistic marker. All his assessments were brutal and to top it all off, his concepts aren't clear at all. Do yourself a huge favor and avoid him. He will make you hate marketing.
EXTREMELY hard marker. Slides are confusing, textbook is useless, exam was hard and was ALL application base. If you want a A or B in MKT then this prof is DEFINITELY not for you.
took this course online. it was extremely hard as the information was vague. you had to keep on top of the textbook readings because that was the only way you would learn anything. the professors weekly slides were impossible to understand as they had diagrams and no explanations. hard marker, zero guidance, useless professor.
definitely not an easy professor, he makes the concepts more confusing than it really is. if you're looking for an easy route out of mkt, he is definitely not the one.
Marks extremely hard. Expectations are very high when it comes to assignments. When I retook MKT100 the second time, I ended up with a lower mark than my first time during regular school. Exams and midterms are very vague and relates 10% of the concepts covered. AVOID PROF BY ALL MEANS.
Make sure you stay on top of your work at all times. Professor wasn't as helpful in times of need.
Dauphine was a good professor, approchable and tried to make the class as interesting as possible (some of the theory was really dry). I would definently reccomend taking CMKT100 with him. Not an easy course though, you need to both read and understand the text, do the metrics mastery problems and come to class/lecture if you are aiming for an A
