Excellent professor, super nice guy, inspiring lectures!
A great prof.! Would highly recommend.
Amazing lectures, but you need to attend! Super nice guy.
Phenomenal lecturer, extremely engaging, but attendance is required to achieve a high mark. Textbook is not necessary if you attend class and take ample notes.
Really good prof, very lecture heavy. If you don't go to class, you won't pass.
Honestly one of the best professors I ever had. The lectures are so engaging, it's almost like watching a TV show! Participation in seminars is definitely required to do well for that portion of the course, but it's not hard as long as you do the readings and speak up. The exams are essay based, but he makes it pretty clear what you need to study.
Although Tomaz is a very nice professor, his marking scheme & overall material were overwhelming. Lecture slides barely have any palpable text to use for notes. He also goes off topic a lot during lectures, making it hard to take notes. He's also an incredibly hard marker for both the final paper & the group seminars, especially.
Very hard marker, too hard for an upper liberal that's full of non-history majors. Have taken many HST courses for my liberal requirements and found this one was the worst. Essay marked too harshly. Tested us on a seminar for which he was away, so the material was rushed through by TA, and prof never mentioned it again. Seems nice, but is unfair
Absolutely loved this prof! You have to attend lecture because there are no words on his slides but they're so interesting! He is so passionate and each lecture feels like he is telling you a story! Exams are long answer, but he gives you tips on what to expect and tells you what/how to study for them.
