Not a bird course, requires a lot of time and effort into studying for the exam and writing the essay component. Freedom with essay topic, made it more enjoyable to write. If you put the effort in you will do well in the course. A lot of neuroscience involved, its a major plus if you have a science background.
not a bird course, but super interesting. discussion posts are lengthy but informative&easy marks. quick marker, fast email replies. gives thorough, thoughtful, and super helpful feedback. final exam was definitely challenging: study lots. he curved final exam grade which was nice. 45% final exam is a bit too much. freedom on paper topic was nice.
This class not only made me sacrifice every once of effort i had but genuinely led me to drugs. You're literally expected to to know every single fact about literally every drug (medical and recreational) in existence. Very unclear criteria and expectations that lead to undeserved bad grades. Lastly zero exceptions are made by any circumstances.
Prof was good and the class itself was interesting. However, this class is NOT a bird course. Discussion posts are due weekly and are marked fairly but require at least an hour of work. Readings are time-consuming but they are necessary for the final exam, which was quite hard. The essay was okay but tedious. In short, not bad but a lot of work.
This course was quite difficult. Dr. Zack marks the discussion posts fairly, but the paper is marked hard, and the final exam is really tricky.
So far so good. Dr. Zack gives you tremendous amount of feedback which every professor should be providing to students to better their assignments. Discussion boards are quick and easy as they focus on research skills and he marks them literally the next day. Fast marker. A lot of reading but it's not too bad if you are genuinely interested!
I like this course a lot. But it does require time to do reading and writing weekly discussions boards. Prof Zack is an easy grader and responds email quickly.
Unorthodox class. Online modules and weekly research discussion posts (i.e explain the management of x condition) - develops research skills amazingly (very useful). Essay marked generously but it is lengthy. Test is "either you know or you don't" and all mc. Only con is I knew 20% of my grade entering the exam (but you get exam mark instantly).
I have read mixed reviews so allow me to provide a clear picture. If you are taking this course as an easy A, then don't bother. If you truly have an interest in the subject, want to engage in discussion about the course material and show dedication to the topics in this course by completing your weekly posts then I guarantee you will do well.
You can get a good grade since you participate in discussion boards. The final test is so heavy. He is good on average.
