Had her for Comp & Rhetoric at Sheridan. You could tell she was passionate about her lessons and it definitely enhanced the online learning environment. Her lectures and notes are definitely a mess though since its always a maze to try and find certain material. As long as you actually complete work on time and do it properly, you'll be fine.
Two modules a week. discussion posts for each module on top of two extra participation posts AND therefore 10 student replies to do. That's... with an essay due every week or so. And her module notes are completely incoherent, first C-course ive taken where the modules are under content rather than in their own D2L window. so disorganized it hurts
She disappears constantly when students reach out, didn't return marks until AFTER the semester was done, didn't even submit her marks to the university on time. Her grading is random and she provides no feedback. The actual lecture content is good (of the lectures she did post instead of disappearing). Do not take this prof!
Avoid this prof at all costs. If you want to secure your GPA do not play this Russian Roulette. In short, she is inaccessible, never grades assignments in a timely manner (I received my grades back 3 weeks after the semester ended) , and over all just very disorganized. I enjoyed the course content I just wish I had a better instructor!
Enjoyable lectures, but the execution and support were atrocious. No grades on assignments given at all, despite saying she would provide this within 2 weeks. Multiple entire lectures missing with no explanation. No support for questions on the Course Discussion Board by anxious students. Sad to see her track record on previous posts being the same
Unfortunately, Dr. Hopkirk is not a reliable and understanding professor. She puts forth the module/participation marks up but not our assignment grades. It's been a month and I have not received any grades. She does not care much about grading to help support her students, especially during this COVID virus. I am utterly disgusted.
She gives good feedback on essays, but marks quite hard. But here's the worst bit: she takes ages to return grades and feedback. I got feedback on my FIRST assignment 3 days before the final paper was due. It felt like I was writing my second and final paper in the dark. Otherwise, it seems like she knows her stuff and is quite passionate.
I have never in my life rated a prof here, but her grading scheme is absolutely atrocious. She makes something as simple as discussion boards more convoluted than I could imagine, leaving me with no reference as to how I'm doing. I do enjoy her lectures, but the anxiety of getting through the course leaves me with zero enjoyment whatsoever.
She is extremely disorganized and assigns more readings and discussion posts that are possible to do. She sets the expectation that this is the only course that you are enrolled in and is not very flexible or lenient. The course material is interesting and her lectures are interesting but the way in which she structures assignments is overwhelming.
Online class is so unbelievably disorganized. Gives me actual anxiety to be in this class. Two modules a week, which means you have to be posting multiple discussion board posts as well as replying to other's post a week on top of readings. Does not tell you why you got the grade you got. If she doesn't like your post, you get a zero. HORRIBLE.
