David Laverty

Dr.Laverty is actually a really nice prof. Trust me, I also got scared of his rating on here but his lectures are very clear, textbooks are available on d2l aka no need to pay for anything. He is really helpful with explaining course contents and solving practice questions. Do practice questions and you will be fine on exams.

Super underrated prof, his lectures were pretty engaging and interesting. He has in class quizzes so attendance matters. I liked how he used polls to engage students. If u do the sona pool thing u get 2% bonus. Overall pretty chill prof, he also gives practice questions in d2L which are helpful for exams. Definitely recommend doing them.

Overall, a kind and funny professor. His tests were fair, the polls he provided in the class were engaing, and the grading system was fair. He also provides practice questions before exams (please do them I would highly advise) which are a good study tool. Also, he provided a 2% free bonus. Good professor overall.

Laverty is a great dude. He knows how to teach, and most of the time his lectures are pretty engaging. You had to do a bit of reading before lectures, but it helped a lot. The midterm and final weren't too hard, and because he posts practice questions for you to do, which helps.

He's available to answer questions out of class time as long as he sees that you are trying to understand the material. Prepares students for midterm and final via providing and going over a worksheet of about 7 pages with a couple of questions related to the covered content.

Available to explain if I had questions, outside class. As long as he sees you're trying, you'll get a pass. All homework was Pass/Fail. The tests/exam were challenging, but again, if you understand the concepts it shouldn't be too difficult to pass. (teaches from his own textbook)

If you think like him, you will pass

The course is very simple, just study and you'll do well. He provides chances to remake the grade to improve your overall grade. Regardless of being online, he provides lectures in a decent way, decent enough to understand the content.

If he sees effort in your assignments, you get 100. Take the class seriously. I didn't study for test 1 & just about passed it. I studied for test 2 & the final & did really well. It's easy to get an A if you study. He gives practice questions that come on the exams. He cares and wants his students to pass. He gives you 2 attempts for the 2nd exam.

Professor Laverty is a very tough grader and he does not explain his course material that well. All of his exams are proctored through Brightspace and the questions are very confusing and misleading. The exam was worth 40%! I wouldn't take him again.
