For someone who doesn't teach, she assigns too much work. Instead of classes, "independent work", writing that she doesn't even mark, "did it/didn't do it" in a "pass or fail" system. The students work while she is not even present during class time. I couldn't imagine anyone skipping their work hours and having it be fine. TMU can't be serious.
Did not like this class. Unclear instructions and feedback.
Her class is hard not because shes a tough grader but because she never fully explains what she wants from her assignments. She explains everything assignment like a politician so your never entirely sure how she wants an assignment is done.
Doesn't teach. Uses an old text book that she turns into slides. Gives misleading feedback and then you receive a random mark back after she states that it was fine to submit. Not sure what the point of the class is/was. I could've just bought the textbook myself and saved tuition. Do better.
I think she's engaging and overall helpful, however that doesn't always follow through in her grading. The grading was pretty slow and often had unclear feedback. She also didn't have office hours which made understanding even harder and the textbook was also kinda unnecessary
She's a nice teacher but her grading is very strict. Even though she's strict, her critiques are extremely valuable and will make you a better writer. She gives a lot of optional assignments and for the most part, these are only "optional" in name, especially the ones leading up to the final essay. Definitely a hard class, esp. for first years.
Hand written essays got to go. Pretty sure we're supposed to get graded on our writing skills not the amount of hand muscles we have, ok class doesn't explain stuff well but you can get guess and pray for the best!
Don't get me wrong she is a very kind person, just not a great professor. She teaches new concepts as if you've learnt them before and expects you to pick things up right away. Her lecture slides are very vague, and don't teach you how to apply material. Honestly reading the textbook taught me more. Cried almost everyday after this class.
She is a very kind prof, very approachable but... Her templates for essays don't make one inch of sense, and she does not help at all in trying to understand it. I have a hunch that *she* understands what she means by "evolving a thesis" or "topic-argument-significance", but she just does not know how to explain it in a way that is replicable.
She seems very nice and approachable and she is, but her grading is so nit-picky and sucks so bad. I got a 50% on the essay, but got 95% on essay for other classes in the same semester and put the same effort into them all. She just is too strict with the grading and is not open to reason about the grades at all.
