Great prof! Cares for his students and challenges you to go above and beyond with your though process! Would recommend !
Great guy and a decent professor but he has way too much extra material to read in addition to the lengthy textbook (and reading it is often a waste of time). He also says controversial comments 90% of the time. Other than that, he's a nice prof and genuinely wants students to succeed - he just needs to work on balancing good guy with good prof.
Stan Benda is an amazing professor. He throughly explains different concepts of intellectual property law and provides many useful examples that can help you better understand the process of IP. I highly recommend taking this course with him. He gives you the proper feedback you need and he prepares you for what to expect for the midterm and exam!
Lectures at a fast pace so do the millions of pages of readings he assigns, most of which aren't covered in lecture. He tries to be funny during lecture by making vulgar and sexist comments. Marks seem arbitrary because everyone is bellcurved after several of the exam and midterm questions don't make sense. Exams are very lecture heavy.
Makes the lectures enjoyable and funny. Good jokes! Always make favours for students IF he sees that you work hard (meaning - attend the lecture and know what is going on). Always helps with assignments and available on the phone and during office hours. HELPFUL with thesis. Instead of ESSAy he assigned an ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY - way easier
Literally the best prof I have ever had in university. He makes the class very interesting and relatable. Make sure you go to class and participate. He gives great examples that help you remember the material. Best and most reasonable professor hands down!
Stan is one of the funniest professors that I have ever had. He knows what he is talking about and is capable of passing his knowledge onto students with good, memorable examples. His marking is fair and his tests are what you would expect. He makes class fun.
if you want to do well in this class must attend all lectures and write down everything he says because that's what is usually on the exam. If you ever get confused over any material go to his office hours, it proved to be very useful
Focus on what Benda says in class, as sometime he goes a little fast. However, it will most definitely show up on a test. He is engaging and makes the content interesting through the use of jokes and examples. He values participation and will call people randomly, but he is very understanding if you do not want to answer. Overall a solid choice!
Make sure you take notes on what he says during class, as it often appears on the midterm and exam. Also try to participate, he likes people who participate in class. No mandatory textbook but many articles to read, they don't show up on the exams but are used in class discussions. If he does final exam review, make sure you pay attention!!
