2 discussion posts the whole semester and 2 essays, pretty easy to balance this course with other subjects. Responds incredibly fast to emails and a very kind prof, would take her again!

It was well structured and aimed at an entry-level learner about feminism. The course requires a good amount of readings and listening to pre-recorded lectures. Both are all you need for the assignments. The lectures reflect the readings and help to explain and understand the concepts well. An excellent prof, you'll learn lots. Highly recommend

she is a very kind person but this class is impossible to do well in. 40% essay, where you are only allowed to use 3 sources that have to be from course content and can only discuss 2 topics within feminism, but has to be 1800-2000 words. i got to 1500 words and was already feeling like i was repeating myself. dont take this class

Asynchronous lectures are quite long and lengthy. However, Dr. Ruddy presents content in a clear and concise way. I did not feel the need to have to contact her to clarify any of the content as the course is organized and straightforward. Major essay is worth 40%. Assignments: short essay, major essay, 2 discussions, final exam-short essay.

Interesting class... Professor didn't give any feedback at all for the last 2 graded assignments, one which was worth 40%! A-lot of long readings however not very useful for the essays. She also marks hard, not the easiest class. Glad it's over!

Worst elective course I've taken. I love writing about feminism, but this course made me dread it. Her assignment criteria is too restrictive and she forces you to write on one specific topic. You can only use 3 sources for the essay and they have to be from the course readings, but her sources are poorly chosen. Just take a sociology class instead

Karen Ruddy is an extremely understanding and caring professor (especially with extensions)! But I would say that she is a tough grader for the term paper which was worth 40%! Everything else was marked a little easier especially the exam! I would recommend the class if you are willing to put in the extra work!

Lots of reading but the content was interesting so I didn't mind. Prof. Ruddy is very caring and passionate about what she teaches. I know some people have said she's a hard marker but I found her to be quite a fair marker tbh. As long as you attend class (tutorial attendance is taken) it's easy to get a decent mark.

Great class. I was unsure what to expect, but Professor Ruddy is very passionate about the topic, which shows in her teaching style. Tutorial attendance is marked, and lectures are posted on D2L as well. Not an easy course per se, but not difficult if you put in the effort.
