I exclusively attended lectures and read the slides and got a 90. Did not do the readings or watch any of the films because they were honestly a bit scary for me. Do with that what you will. Tests were a little strange but I just guessed based on lectures what he would want and did fine.
331 - his lectures are super boring but he has very clear expectations, exams are easy if you study and high grades are very doable. pros outweigh the cons. i reccommend and willl take his classes again
This course consists mostly of Prof. Moura dissecting long clips of politically relevant films. There are slides, which could use a do over, but they make up only a small amount of the course. Prof. Moura is also more difficult but he has valuable insight.
Worst course in 4 years. Lectures are long but lack substance. Slides are very difficult to read. Grading is exceptionally harsh for an undergrad class. The 100-question, 90-min final tested subjective opinions rather than objective material. Avoid to protect your GPA! I highly recommend taking Sandra Lim.
An echo chamber of nothingness. Waste of time, he is incredibly rude, refuses to take feedback or any form of criticism.
Incoherent, rude. Forces you to analyze and engage with his work, in a supposedly critical manner, while removing your ability to criticize anything he does.
A waste of three hours each week. I have never once sat through a less coherent course. The exams aren't about course material, they are about him. 5
some of the lectures can be all over the place, but his choice of topics is very well-thought-out and relevant. he very clearly favours intellectual acuity---if you participate and genuinely engage with the content, you will get lots out of it. be ready to weather groans from classmates who don't want to put effort into lectures.
