Has a very monotone voice during lecture but subject is very easy to understand.

I took this class for a second time to improve upon my first grade. Derek brought a fresh perspective and was very easy to relate to. Seems very well respected by other profs and in industry.

Very nice guy and cares about his students. Funny and fun to talk to. Only thing is if he's uninterested in the content he's teaching you can tell, his voice goes very monotone at times. Also very easy to get him off track and start talking about cooler topics. Also, he's pretty attractive. JS.

Excellent prof; he is very connected in the media industry. Evening labs are fun, and he is a fair grader.

By far best proff I have ever had

I had him a few years ago for GRA 204. He is very well connected in industry and basically got me an internship at the company I wanted! He does a good job with the course content that he has to present. Always there if you have any questions.

Tough marker and makes you work for your grade, but if you need help he will drop everything to make sure you understand the content.

He's a very monotone and boring prof. Gives you an exam review but surprises you on the exam with things never taught in lecture. Very difficult class overall and he didn't help!
