AVOID this prof at all costs if she's teaching! The positive reviews are deceiving. This professor is absurdly strict about grading, as if she enjoys making the material unnecessarily difficult. Her emails come off as if she's offended you'd dare contact her. Although CCMN 279 is said to be an easy course, she'll make you sweat for every point.
She might be a tough grader to you but it's just because she wants you to succeed in her class. The prof gives very helpful feedbacks. If you show her that you read the modules and really try to improve your writing, you'll be fine. Plus, prof also replies email promptly.
I was expecting to work very hard on this course from the reputation of her being a tough marker on here. After taking her class I believe the bad ratings are from people who did not follow the templates in the textbook or criteria for the assignment. I got an easy A, even though writing is not my strong suit, and the prof is really kind and caring
This professor is understanding and very good at emailing quickly. She cares and wants to see students do well. She can be a tough grader but is fair. I would take a class with her again.
Professor Hopkinson was very knowledgeable on the subject of intercultural communications. She has formatted the class in a way where students can understand and appreciate the differences between cultural perspectives. The class and content are crucial for any student/employee navigating the Canadian work environment.
Barbara was a decent prof for an online communications course. As an online course I would have expected to do better but she can be a pretty tough grader over relatively minor mistakes but she does give pretty good feedback outlining all these mistakes in order to improve. My main knock on her is just how tough I feel she graded us...
Professor Hopkinson was great. You can tell she really cares about her students. Lectures were interesting, lots of real world examples that kept the class engaged. I enjoyed attending her lectures every week.
Good professor but the lecture can be very boring at times and tend to drag on when it did not need to. Make sure you put the effort into doing well as she is very particular with her grading (ie. proofreading). Good class, sometimes boring and hard to do well in if you don't try.
Prof enthusiastically presented the lecture, was very knowledgeable about the subject matter and engaged the audience. It was a pleasure to attend this class.
This class is excellent. Prof provided real examples and involved the audience. It was a fun class to attend with lots of opportunity to participate to the discussion. The course material was interesting. I would recommend this course. The assignments and exams were also interesting to complete and marked fairly.
