Doug was one of my favourite professors at Ryerson University. He has a wealth of knowledge and really prepares you for the real world. As others complained about, you do have to pay attention and complete the required homework to obtain a good grade. You know, the pillars Universities are founded on! He is a tough grader but more than fair!
His lectures are boring. He tends to be behind schedule. But, he's friendly and fair with his deadlines.
I would never take Doug's course again
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. If you do not attend class, you will have a hard time passing. You will need to rely heavily on the textbook since NO LECTURE NOTESSLIDES are provided. Also, the syllabus for the course was very lacking; no indication as to which chapters to read for each week (not even the chapter number, let alone page numbers).
Doug is tough at times. I believe he knows his stuff but it doesn't come across too clear.
Confusing as hell, but you don't have a choice in taking his class if you're in GA. We barely used the GIS software in this course while he explained all the procedures and stuff. Really boring class, the projects are okay, but that depends if you get a good group. I probably wouldn't take one of his classes again if I had a choice
Awesome prof, people who are not interested in learning shouldn't take his course. Interesting and wise teacher, ask questions in office hours and get to know him. He has great input and useful tips for the future.
Worst prof I have ever experienced. He was very rude and biased towards me.
Better read the whole textbook. The class notes that you make are useless.
He's not too bad overall. Doesn't really explain much about the term paper, midterm, or final. His multiple choice questions are really easy; you can cross out a few of the options just by common sense. His lectures are somewhat interesting but they're of not much help for the quizzes. Keep up with the readings. He's a tough marker for written work
