amazing lectures, very caring. the exams are easy but the essay was marked very harshly. if you go to the lectures and study well you will get +90
She is a very kind professor. She is very passionate about psychology. She explains really well all the concepts and psychological experiments during lectures that's why it is important not to miss lectures. If you ask her to explain the concept again and give you a different example she does it for you and tries to clarify all the doubts.
She uses awful techniques to incentivise students to come to class such as purposefully leaving a lot of the content out of the slides, leaving them blank, and completely omitting slides from the posted documents. It seems her priorities are set on getting students to sit through her boring 3 hour lectures as opposed to learn the content.
I think she is excellent! Dr. Ma facilitates great class discussions and explains content well. I have no idea why other students would criticize her English. Because she speaks English very well, even though she is Chinese background, there is no heavy accent at all. I can assure you! Anyway, I enjoyed her classes.
Dr. Ma is amazing and kind. She definitely wants you to do well and will help out if you ask for it. 11% (5% for SONA + 4% Quizzes) were up for low credit work. Her TAs are tough graders but if you study I am sure you can do well. The highest grade on the final was A+ I think.
She seems to be a very well-meaning person but sometimes the lectures can get a bit boring and dreary. 3 hours of her talking in a relatively monotone manner, not fun. Assignments are time-consuming but not hard. Don't start it the night before it's due. she knows her material very well and will always encourage questions or concerns during class
I am hesitant to base my courses off reviews after reading all the poor ones for Dr. Ma. She is caring and wants you to succeed. Her tests are no more tricky than any other first year psy course. Read your book, ask questions, participate. You'll do fine!
Based on past reviews I was terrified for this course, but I found it easy. She is a wonderful prof, but make sure to read the textbook (which is a lot of reading) and go to lectures. Graded by 3 things, but there is free 11% for small tasks and SONA. Hardest evaluation was the final exam, but that may have been because I didn't study too much lol.
I was so scared to take the class with her when I read her evaluations here but all I can say is that Dr. Ma is one of the most caring and understanding profs I've ever seen at Ryerson. Yes, you need to actually study for the course if you want to end up with an A+ but considering you want an A+ that shouldn't sound absurd to you. She's a real gem.
She seems like a nice lady but I can't understand what she's saying 90% of the time during the lecture. I have to replay the video 50 times before I can understand what she says. I can't be asked to spent 30 minutes making notes on a 8 minute video recording just because she's mumbling all the time.
