Kevin is a good professor, especially for first-year journalism students. You are guaranteed to pass in his class
Kevin is the best instructor I have had in any of my classes. He is so thorough with his feedback and really wants to see his students do well. He makes class engaging. I notice a lot of reviews say his class if difficult, which isnt really true. He marks with detail so that you do better in the future, truly lessons I will take beyond this course
His classes were super boring and long. He basically taught us nothing even though he had a whole 6 hours of lab time. He is also a very tough grader and his standards are too high for first year journalism students. Especially during a pandemic when stories are tough to create. He's also old fashioned with his approach to journalism.
Kevin was amazing. I was intimidated during the first day, but despite this I grew to enjoy his classes. Mind you there is a lot of work put into his assignments, as he grades harshly (and for a good reason). He teaches you a lot, and even if it might be out of your comfort zone, he shows that he cares and pushes you forward.
Kevin is the ABSOLUTE best. He gets his dog, Teddy to class on a daily basis and his class is overall a treat. Really makes you work for it, will give endless feedback, is super considerate about your mental health and will regularly check in on you when you're out working on a project (i.e story days).
Kevin is the best professor I've ever had from Ryerson. First-year students are very lucky to have him as their prof, if they are in his class. He's a great editor and gives very detailed assignment feedback. You'll learn some important journalism basics that other professors wouldn't teach you. Take his class if you can!
Not only the kindest professor I've met so far, but also one of the kindest people I've met. He is dedicated, engaging, witty and subtle, and he takes great care to pay personal attention and cater to students' individual needs. An excellent way to start studying journalism. Plus, you know, he brings his dog to class lots.
The BEST instructor to introduce you into hard news writing and the world of journalism. He teaches and ingrains the foundations of news writing and you will NEVER forget it. He is a tough grader but you would not want it any other way. He sends the cutest emails and will cheer you up and have your back NO MATTER WHAT. Kev and Teddy are the best!!
HE IS A REAL GEM. He was the first professor I ever had at RSJ and he taught us the foundations of journalism. He always puts his students first, and sometimes brings his dog in on story days. He encourages his students to always do better by grading them harder. I wouldn't want any other instructor for JRN103. Such a gem. Remarkable. Great dog.
I would not take a class with this professor again. The lectures are 3 hours and he pretty much does not teach you anything the entire time. The assignments were easy but he is a tough grader. He also does not let you use your laptop or phone the whole lecture. He also has very dated ideas about journalism.
