I honestly wouldn't recommend this professor. He moves through material way too fast, assumes you already understand everything, and gives very little support. When students ask questions, he can be dismissive or rude. Tests are extremely hard, and you're basically left to teach yourself the course.
Professor Kolasa is a very hard grader, attend the lectures and do the suggested homework. The final exam was very similar to the practice final exam.
I enjoyed taking my two first year calc courses with Professor Kolasa! He tends to go off on a tangent in his lectures sometimes but definitely go to the lectures!! The concepts he discusses during the lectures are invaluable for the exams. His tests are very fair and quite easy. Exams were a bit harder, but still reasonable if you do the homework.
Very hard grader, not only that but the material of this course is very difficult as well. Be prepared for lots of late nights of wondering if you'll even pass the course. Visiting his office hours for the assignments is a must, and even if you do visit you still might not get a good grade. Good luck in this course.
He is, overall, a nice person, just really bad at explaining/teaching. His quizzes don't look anything like his lectures. I survived the class because of the TAs. His a hard marker that makes it even worse
Great professor, show up to classes or you will have a hard time passing. A very hard marker but in his lectures he explains everything very well and it's easy to understand. Dr. Kolasa is very passionate in what he does and really wants his students to pass. The practice final was very similar to the final
This class is a challenging one, but with the right study tools, it's doable. I found the lectures a bit dry, so I supplemented with resources like Unstuck ai and the textbook. The exams are brutal, so be prepared to put in the work.
He is a good professor, and his notes are done really well, clear and concise. MTH 108 itself, though, is a very tough course on its own. Kolasa is a professor who wants his students to pass, so asking questions in class is never shamed.
Math classes arent a freebie, Dr Kolasa is really passionate about math and the way to do well is to go to his office hours, I feel. Easy to do well with self studying, but he basically helps you and guides you if you come talk to him with is really good.
Very difficult course. 24% Assignments, 20% Quizzes, 24% Midterm, 32% final, with an extra credit assignment boosting your quiz and assignment grades. Assignments are applying the theory, quizzes are related to labs, and the prof gives adequate prep for the exams, including a test bank. Go to office hours!!
