PLEASE DO NOT EVER TAKE THIS PROF. May she retire ASAP. She's not empathetic. All my profs accommodated me but she didn't care at all when I had valid personal problems. I even sobbed in front of her, she didn't care. Heartless and not easy to talk to. Marks rlly hard. Wanted to delay my grad. She expects you to put all attention into her class.
I hated attending Deborah's class. Her choice of attire was highly inappropriate, and her attitude towards international students was extremely unwelcoming. Moreover, her grading practices were very unfair, and she discouraged students from pursuing a PhD.
When its not 1-2 student who are failing but the entire section clearly there's a problem the prof and not the students."I spend 30 hours a week on this course..I expect you to do the same" She spends all that time doing citations because that is the only thing that really matters on her eyes not your creative ability or any of the course content.
She changes grading criteria when returning work. Seems to be more focused on keeping the average around a 55% than teaching anything. Terrible communicator - do not expect any marks to be changed. Avoid at all costs, may she retire soon.
Prof Fels is the toughest grader I've ever had. I took a web Design course with her and the amount of work and writing done in this course was not expected at all in ITM. She grades really hard, I felt like I was being graded by an English teacher. If you don't like writing and spending hours on homework every week, just reconsider her courses.
Exceptionally knowledgeable about research methods. Makes the content relatable with lots of examples. Cares deeply about the quality of research you produce. A little bit slow to give feedback but it is well worth the wait. Hands down to most detailed/helpful comments Ive ever received.
requirements unclear. she expects us to know everything, and if we dont, she expects us to learn from online. she thinks this is how the real world is. sorry but this isnt it. in the real world, requirements are clear. if things are specifically needed, they are stated in the deliverables. dont take the course. ryerson needs a new prof for itm780.
doesnt know how to explain anything for the life of her. dont know how she is such a valued prof at ryerson. literally doesnt explain anything for the assignment, thinks we should know or should research requirements. when youe given a project in the real world, if things in the submission arent in the deliverables or requirements, it isnt required
Thought taking ITM780 would be a great course to learn about HTML, Javascript and CSS. Think again. Deborah is one of the worst profs I have ever had. I rarely down talk on professors as I want to be one myself but my god please save yourself the trouble. Doesn't teach the course according to a schedule, too much course work, unclear assignments!
She expects you to spend 10+ hours of extra work on the side weekly as she expects you to work as much as an engineering student. Grading is quite unjustified at times as well!
