BEST PROF! Such a cool guy. You won't regret taking any of his classes. Just take notes for any pop quizzes and lectures can get a bit boring at times but he tries his best to keep it interesting.
Supervised my directed reading and was crucial to the design of the course work, participated fully in the presentations and bi-weekly calls. Had lots to add about the subject matter, challenged me to do good work, and make the whole process a lot of fun.
Michael Coutanche is one of RTA's finest. He genuinely cares about your success and is always there to help you towards it. As much as you're willing to put in, he's willing to give back, and if you're struggling to put in the work, he'll still be there to help you hand something in. Writing is tough, and he makes it seem a lot less scary.
i love michael. hes so funny during his lectures and really does a great job at teaching you the content. make sure you go to the lectures and take notes cuz all that content will be on the pop quizzes! also make note of the songs he plays at the beginning of the lecture every week, thats on the quizzes too.
Easy class. Coutanche likes to hear himself talk, so be prepared. Watch for the pop quizzes. He's not very engaging and seems bored when lecturing. Maybe it's time for him to retire and get some fresh blood in there.
Only a lecture prof, kinda rambly. Overall a nice guy.
He is alright. Felt bored in all lectures, with no motivation to go as all assignments were in the labs. Just be on the lookout for the pop quizzes.
I went to like 3 lectures only and my marks haven't suffered at all. Coutanche is really nice and funny but god, his lectures are boring and the stuff he teaches is very intuitive so you don't have to go. Your TAs will tell you all the essential information in the labs and you're good. Just watch out for the pop quizzes but they're not worth much.
nice guy but so so mediocre. lectures weren't very engaging but at least he tried. i bet his family has cute xmas cards, one of the better middle-aged white guy profs in rta but found myself bored regularly. class itself is just kind of pointless, did not learn much, course consists of 8 mini projects & a participation mark. 1hr lecture, 2hr lab.
In other media subjects, he would be fine, but unfortunately he's very bad at giving feedback--pretty important for writing classes. He's a nice guy, but if you're hoping to improve your writing skills, look elsewhere.
