L prof. Online lectures is a joke. We didn't pay to have a lecture on zoom. And This is the only course I've done so far where you actually need to purchase the textbook for quizzes and exams. Such a weirdo. LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL all around for this one.
Dr. Alan is incredibly helpful, providing more than enough study materials that make the course easier. His clear explanations while solving sample problems in lectures, in addition to those in tutorials, are remarkable. Thanks to him, I not only understood thermodynamics but also developed a love for the subject.
Terrible Prof, has decent notes tho. His midterm was long and hard and Final was incomplete ( 2 unsolvable questions). Quiz questions were brutal as well. Good luck
Notes consist of long paragraphs about theory rather than instructions on how to approach questions. Goes to examples without explaining anything about formulas or equations ... evident by the empty classes. Avoid him. New textbook is also awful.
he is so cute and kind. very helpful and excited person
I had him for MEC309, One of the worst profs I've ever had! He does not care about his students and he's notes are really bad. There's a lecture series on Youtube from Irvine university of California for Basic Thermodynamics, watch that one it's much better than Alan Fung's lectures.
Horrendous prof. Copies exclusively from his posted notes, little to no teaching done in lectures. Midterm average was in the 40s and he did not adjust, thank god the final questions were a joke. Avoid if possible
Another post states how he uses his lecture to reiterate class notes he shares online. I find this approach better for my learning style: Instead of blindly trying to copy my own notes I can now use the class time to think more deeply on the subject.
All he does during lecture is copying his notes from the paper to the white board. I do not consider moving words from paper to white board is teaching. Simply put, he does not teach you anything during lecture, you pay tuition and you study his lecture notes posted on D2L. He just made himself easily replaceable by anyone.
You have to attend lectures and do the assigned problems in this class. It's nearly impossible to get an A on the midterm: you have to be able to do problems quickly and accurately on the first try (there's no time to review your answers). He has office hours if you need help, but expects that you put in effort to get a good grade.
