By far the worst experience of my entire time at TMU! If you want to cry every night just pick this course with her.
The layout of the textbook along with the course was confusing at times. This is definitely the kind of course where you reach out to the prof immediately for help. In this case the professor really cares about the students and is willing to help.
Pnina is awesome! Clinic offers valuable hands-on experience + develop legal, communication, and analytical skills. She's direct with feedback and can be tough at times, but comes from a genuine place of wanting her students to improve/succeed. She cares for students, pushes them to do their best. If you put in the work earning an A is achievable.
I would recommend taking clinic with Pnina she is one of the most caring professors I have ever had. She truly cares about her students and wants to see them all succeed.
Although it is a pretty tough course, I think Pnina does well in holding her students accountable and ensuring they are on the right path for success. This course is no joke, so she wants her students to be well-suited and prepared for the real world. I definitely recommend taking this course with her, but be prepared to be on top of your game.
If you want to have a bad semester, go ahead and take a course with her. She thinks she is the best professor ever and extremely knowledgeable, but she isn't. She doesn't understand or care about her students at all.
Professor Alon-Shenker is not going to put up with mediocrity or lack of effort - but unlike other professors, her attitude is purely out of care for her students. Her criticisms aren't ego driven, but are instead meant to draw the best effort and results out of every student. You will have to put in work, but you'll be better off for it.
If you value your mental health and need positive reinforcement from a professor do not take this course. Her combination style is highly passive aggressive and grading is tough. The course should be a good experience but its like working in your dream job with a passive aggressive boss always telling you what you did wrong.
She can be a bit tough, but it's only so her students can improve. You can tell she really cares about the students and puts in a lot of effort into making the clinic a valuable learning experience. Highly recommend.
responded to emails fast, if you are confused book her office hours and she will help you and tell you the way she wants questions to be answered. she was nice and to the point.
