If you are willing to spend hours of study sessions, can memorize facts and details well, you would do good. Graded entirely on exams btw ( 2 midterms, 1 final). Prof is nice, accommodating with the lectures recorded in zoom and posted. Personally I feel like people who like to learn independently, at home would do well.
This was his first time teaching this course. Some ppl may have not liked his teaching style but it worked great for me. I liked that he recorded lectures and he only tested material that was already on the slides. So if you like to learn and study on your own (like me) take this course! you just have to remember the info from slides.
This course is so light and he's fair. I didn't attend lectures and didn't watch the recordings. 2 midterms + final exam, all mc questions. very straight to the point. only material on the slides tested so I just studied that and got an A+. I also had already taken immunology in the past so that's prob why it was easier for me. Take BMS451with him!
This course is honestly so light. I didn't go to any lectures and I didn't watch the recordings. I still finished with an A+. 2 midterms + final exam, all mc questions entirely from the lecture slides. Very straight to the point!! He's also a nice prof. I literally only studied the material on the slides.
Y'all doing too much. He clearly said that he didn't teach this course before. Think from this perspective: he made sure everything we needed to know was on the slides (I agree that there was a lot of content though) AND made the tests multiple choice so we had a fair shot of doing well.
While the final grades were curved after all of these sad RMP ratings, everyone else's point still stands. When your grades are on the line, there is no room to "bear" with anything. If you are okay with getting a barely passing grade, take the risk. Otherwise, avoid this course. Historically great prof for other courses though
People are being so harsh. Coming from a STEM background, the course content wasn't unbearable, but it was lecture-heavy. He already prefaced that this course is not his specialty, it was his first time teaching it, so bear with him. He was very accommodating by hosting live Zoom lectures during class and posting recordings. Also curved nicely.
I've never met such an erratic professor like him, seriously the way he talks you'd think to yourself about how he even got his PhD. If he can't even provide adequate lectures you can tell the rest about how he is as a professor. Listen to the revent reviews they're more accurate
Would highly recommend you not take this course with him or in general. It is historically poorly organized, and insanely difficult for a core elective. Even with the low grades people are pulling in this class, he doesn't curve, and no guidance on how to study. Please save yourself the stress and tears, and do not take this course with him.
Content of the course is interesting, but since the prof is new to the course I feel like he does not know what hes doing. Just reads off of the slides in class and says "everything covered in class is testable material" which really doesn't help.
