While Dawn genuinely cares about her students, her teaching style is not for me. I personally foud that she would often go off on tangents, and the slides were hard to follow.
To be honest, I found her very disorganized, making this course harder than it should be. Assignment instructions are extremely unclear, causing her to be posting more information about it on the week it was due (after half of the class already submitted). She is a very nice woman and doesn't grade off of many things which is good.
I really like Dawn! She genuinely tries to spur conversation around politics and current events. She makes the class concepts easy to understand and encourages class discussion. A very kind and approachable prof overall.
Save yourself from not understanding topics and policies. She gives three-hour lectures, in which she cannot cover a 30-slides. Talks about anything and everything that is not on the slides. by week 6 we were 4 classes behind due to her incessant yapping. Allows students to go off on tangents as well with no concern for covering the content.
She talks too much and just reads off the slides.
She is a yapper. She waffles for hours about things that are uneccesary and already explained in the slides.
I found Dawn to be caring when it came to extensions and asking for help which I appreciated. Her lectures can be dry and we'd go off into tangents which take up half the class. Some of the info on her slides didn't make sense to me. Overall if you follow the lectures for the midterm and her instructions for the assignments, you'll be okay.
Dawn is nice and caring but is an awful lecturer and goes off on dry tangents. I did not understand the majority of her lectures and her explanations were confusing. Dawn skips over a lot of her slides which adds to the confusion. The 8-week worth of lectures for one test was overwhelming and the word counts on all the assignments were impossible.
Her lectures are pretty dry, although I can't name many students who've shown as much interest in social policy as the professor would like. Marks are based on online quizzes, a fairly short assignment, and an online final exam- all of which were straightforward and easy. She's also very compassionate and very accessible through email.
Yawn's lectures are very boring because talks at you with dry material!! She seemed to make 0 effort to have the class more engaging with our important material. However, her class is fairly easy as long as you can teach yourself. She also seemed very passive aggressive to me in emails and in person. Very rude. There are better profs you can take.
