Honestly he is not a bad of a professor as most of these reviews make it seem, he tells you exactly what you need to study and the questions on the exams are literally the same from the study plan in pearson. The only thing is with this course and this prof is you need to put a lot more time and effort into it to recieve a good grade.
The course and prof weren't that bad. He graded exams fairly and told you exactly what to do to pass. Just read the textbook and do the study plan questions until you know the gist of things, and you will be okay. Also, the MyLab questions are all in the study plans, so you get answers to them.
I have not fully finished the course yet, but from my experience with the midterm and midterm grades, I think that he's not all that bad. I just read the textbook and did the study plan questions, which is exactly what he tells you to do, and I got a 70 on the midterm.
Try to avoid him if you can, I just didn't have that option. The professor isn't very helpful. When I asked a simple question about uploading the lecture slides (which is all he does in class , just reads from them), he said, “I won't do it. Just read the textbook.” Not very helpful.
RUN! He should not be allowed to teach. Bragged about how 46% of students failed his course and decided to stop posting slides to force us to come to class. Also at the same time he moves so fast you can barely take notes.
Do not take this course with Roche! He will not curve exams & the final grade even if you are close to passing. He sits & reads off of his slides. If you have to take him, you should read textbook & do practice questions from there. His exams are tough. He's not generous with marks for the short answers. Overall, he's the worst. Pick another prof.
Professor Roche gives engaging lectures. The course is tough, and the exams have a limited number of questions, so if you mess up on one of them, that's a large hit to your mark. You must attend class and study hard to do well but a high mark is achievable. Overall enjoyed my time in this graduate course.
He DOES sit and read off his slides (I think he has knee issues) but he explains them very well and does his best to answer any questions. He is very clear with what he's looking for on exams and gives plenty of practice material. He cares about the students' health first too. The course is very hard and you must put that work in.
Professor Roche is someone who should not be allowed to teach this difficult of a course. This is a type of course where the prof must be active and involved in lectures and office hours. Professor Roche sat the whole time reading off slides (which had very heavy content), which were no help. Please avoid him at all costs
Maurice is an okay professor. He's pretty nice, but his lectures are tiring, boring, and he just reads off the slides. This is a difficult course and there's a lot to learn. Mylabs and pop quizzes were a nice mark booster. For the midterm and final, do the end of chapter questions from the textbook because that's where he gets the questions from.
