Although she is an easy prof and the class was not bad, she is a bit of a tricky marker. She will give minimal instructions and then critique your assignments a bit harsher that expected. She isn't a harsh marker by an means, but just don't expect to get an A+ without doing some work.
Prof. Rebick is an okay prof if not the best. However, the group project was graded a bit harder but the final paper was fair since she allowed us to get our thesis approved by here. Overall, I would recommend this prof!
Judy is such a sweet woman. Seeing as she is older, there seemed to be a disorganized D2L which was confusing at times. Regardless, she marks fair on personal assignments however there is a lack of instructions/ rubrics. Group project was marked a bit harder but still a bird course. Judy herself is very inspiring- take this class!!!
Daily attendance taken. Don't take it if you wont show. This is the kinda course you take to change your outlook on life, but she's not good at grading at ALL. She said she is not an academic, so be prepared for one sentence prompts for essays, to which she may give you a 60 even though that's on her for not being clear. Regardless, I learned lots.
While she has "industry" experience with social movements in Canada, her lectures aren't really holistic educational opportunities. She brings in friends with very similar views as herself and doesn't really provide a good space for students to engage in conversations that veer off her ideologies and isn't open to criticism either but easy marker.
This professor unfortunately is bias and has no right teaching and influencing students based off her own beliefs instead of actually facts.
Judy is a a seasoned political activist and writer that made POL 601 is a successful and memorable class. She's flexible and kind, I def rec her as a prof. The materials in this class were presented in a clear and concise manner. It was also very refreshing to see a professor bringing in guest speakers who were involved in the social movements.
Do not think twice, take this professor. Her class was probably the most easy class I have ever taken, while being very interesting at the same time. Easy 4.33. God bless this professor :)
Judy Rebick is the kindest and most caring professor. Her participation and fantastic knowledge of Canadian women's rights in unparalleled. I have learned so much; she is everything you are looking for in a professor.
I absolutely adore Judy! She is a caring prof who wants you to succeed and knows her content very well. She would bring in a lot of guest speakers which was awesome to hear. There were only 2 papers, a simple group project and no mid/final exam. Although she does like breakout rooms. Amazing person and would highly recommend this course!
