Engaging lectures with plenty of example problems to reinforce the concepts. Textbook and Unstuck study were helpful for studying. Tough but fair exams, better to attend class and stay on top of the material.
Would highly recommend going to his lectures as he goes over how to solve textbook problems that are similar to what is on mylab and the exams. Will happily answer any questions you have and also gave us a few extra marks back for the midterms which was much appreciated. Would take again!
Retook this course due to a bad prof, and Warden really helped fill the gaps in my knowledge! He went over examples and textbook questions in the lecture, which helped greatly. Exams were a bit difficult due to limited time, and the exam questions were more difficult than the mylab, but he did everything he could to make the course more manageable.
This guy can't speak English and rushes through the lesson. No one knows what's going on or what he is saying. L mans
Overall a good prof may be hard to understand for some, but he is clear and concise when it comes to displaying his ideas. From what I heard about the other profs for this course, he is a solid choice compared to the others.
I had him during Fall 2023 and he was amazing compared to the other professor. We had 2 midterms and 1 final along with ~25% of just free marks from homework and placement tests. However, the financial math side of things was a bit tricky and requires some self-teaching as he does not cover it fully and is not in the book. The final was the HW Qs.
He has detailed slides you can refer to outside of class, gives many examples during the lecture (which I recommend staying for), and posts practice tests. Make sure to attend lectures. I would also heavily recommend keeping up with the textbook homework and trying all the questions from the practice tests.
We had two tests hosted on campus, both on Saturdays - beware and check ahead for conflicts (Fall 2023). Up to 25% of the final marks are through online demos, which are free and a big mark booster. Lectures were paired with practice problems which are very helpful.
Prof Egodawatte is a really good professor especially compared to the other QMS130 prof in my opinion. While his accent made it hard to understand him, he was clear and thorough about the lesson. He posts the lessons for next week ahead of time and is helpful in answering questions. Modules are very helpful for studying for the tests/exam
Despite teaching myself everything and only attending his lecture once, I did all the MyLab modules, homework questions, and started studying for the tests at least 2 weeks before to get a 78% in the class. If you study properly and are not lazy, you can easily pass the class with a 67%+. This class is not as challenging as everyone says it is.
