In her class right now. Lecture is dry and extremely boring. Reflections after class are brutal and unnecessary. I do not recommend this professor at all.

this one is annoying and a rather terrible professor. She makes you write 4 paragraph essay length reflections each and every week and you have to talk about the takeaways from class so attendance is mandatory and on top of that there isn't much to takeaway outside of the lecture videos but you're only supposed to talk about the class lol

I usually read these reviews with a grain of salt, but believe me when I say absolutely AVOID if possible, unless you want to be teaching yourself the entire course, since she likes to test students on chapters she hasnt even gone over yet. AVOID AVOID AVOID

This prof will waste hours of your life. Content is easy but just a lot of unnecessary work.

Helen Chen lectures are completely irrelevant to course content and the textbook. You will not use the textbook at all until the final exam comes around. Exam is split in take home and m/c in class portion. Marking scheme and assignment instructions are very vague and hard to understand. When asking questions she does not answer. Nit pics everythin

She was terrible. Her class has no structure, group project instructions say one thing and she expects another. She is not very clear and should not be teaching this course. Her tests were easy, that is the only good thing about her class.

This is actually a great prof if you care about improving your critical thinking and analysis skills. Her lecture are interesting as she often predicts things that will happen in the future. As for the tests, she gives you the questions. For the group project, they're quite difficult and need a good bit of research. Participation bonus marks.

Tests were fair, easy way to get 90+ since she gave you all questions, memorize! Volunteer presentations will SAVE YOU, easy to make. During debate ask questions, all will be added to bonus marks. The final project was stressful, gave us new outline 5 days before its due, marked generously (put effort). Lectures are long but listen! BONUS MATTERS!!

Just to add, she gives a lot of bonus marks. With how hard of a marker she is, how vague her instructions are, and how unorganized she is, I should end up with a B-. But with all the bonus marks Ive accumulated, I got an A-. Always participate in class and volunteer for her presentations. She will raise your final grade by a whole letter.
