Had 2 read two books and complete a book report of each one. Had to complete weekly assignments based on the class leacture and a group project. As long as you attend class, hand in the assignments you will do well.
Not a good professor, has attitude problems and shows a lot of it to students she doesn't like. Openly calls out people and has bad communication with students. Does not reply back to emails and is extremely unorganized. She filled this class with loads of work, you have to read 2 books and write 3 book reports and a critical review.
AVOID!!! I dropped the course so damn quick. You have to read 2 books, write 3 book reports (6-8 pages each). Then there's a group research project which requires a 20-25 min presentation. Then a critical review on some article (2-4 pages). C'mon, I get we're in university but this is ridiculous.. people have jobs and other classes, Cheryl.
I haven't started this course with her yet but according to the course outline we have to read 2 books and write 3 book reports 6-8 pages each.. wtf. Then you also have a group project with a 20-25 min long presentation. She posted the course outline too late so I can't get a full refund if I were to drop the course. Don't take her.
Hard to be on top of everything she assigns especially when she updates the course outline THE WEEK before the end of the semester w/o any heads up. She expected us to know she did so & that she replaced the final assignment w/ 3 new ones THE WEEK before the deadline. It was a 6 pager so most obvi already did it. Also unresponsive, slow marker&rude.
When I saw her ratings before taking her course I got scared but she really isn't that hard. If you come to class, do your stuff and study. My group did really well on our group project and its not like we killed ourselves over it. Theres way worse profs at RU, I wouldn't count her one of them. Id retake her if I had the choice.
concepts are related in each module, she tests fairly - content from the modules. She also clearly communicates to the students what modules to focus on for both test and exam.
Cheryl is overall a good professor. She was a bit disorganized and took a while to get back to students. The course was online so it was a bit more difficult to get a hold of her. She is passionate about what she does and really knows her stuff. This course did require a fair amount of reading from various sources. Would recommend her to others.
Good class, super engaging; liked Cheryl. Not a lot of midtermexam prep - you go over it twice for each - but same things just repeated, and pretty much is just "study each weeks materials". Participate and you'll learn lots. Horrible with responding to emails though - DONT rely on this; ask questions in class, never responds to emails.
I originally was hoping to take this class online, but it was transferred to an in-class lecture. Cheryl really made the class interesting, and I don't think it would have been the same online. She brought her experiences and expertise, but guest speakers and discussion really helped learning the content over the readings. Good class!
