Like everyone else is saying, Dr. Thompson is an incredible professor. She is one of those rare examples of someone who was just born to teach. I took CRM300 with her last year as well and will now have to try to get into the grad program so I can be in her class again.
This was the best criminology class I have taken so far. I looked forward to lecture every week. The topics were interesting and the workload was manageable and she gave the whole class a 1 week extension for the written assignment. Strongly recommend.
Such compassion for victims of violence, always reminding us that the patterns and trends and data we examine represent real people, real lives and real pain. Two take home exams and written assignment and she runs a writing workshop that helped me so much that I got my first A. Love her so much.
Just an amazing course. Prof Thomson is a gem.
CRM318 is an amazing class. Thompson is outstanding.
Dr. Thompson's grad course on interpersonal violence is extraordinary. I actively participated in group discussions every week, unusual (for me) because of anxiety. This was because of the vibe she creates in the classroom. She is warm and engaging and funny and approachable. Outstanding prof and class!
This was a great class with a really great professor. Incredible lectures, an in-class essay writing workshop and two take-home exams. Her expectations are clear, she gives lots of hints for the exams, and though this is not an easy course, if you make sure attend lecture and read the course readings, you'll do well. 11/10
I took 318 and 300 with her. Overall, both great courses and Thompson is a wonderful professor. The content is super interesting, her lectures are never boring and tests and assignments are fair (bonus: the mid term and final tests are take home). Make sure you attend class tho because tests cover lectures and assigned readings.
