This course caused me a lot of STRESS when I took it last year. Expectations were often not clear and asks students to be very specific BUt she, herself does not provide strong/helpful examples to guide that specificity. Structure and teaching style of this course made me seriously question my degree choice LOL I almost drop out from tmu bc of her
If you have no religion yet, please start praying
I dont recommend anyone taking this course, except if you have to. Lectures are very boring. Both the TA and Prof are tough graders. The course material is vey weird and does not make sense since we are only coding words from the beginning until the end of the term. I dont see any benefit in taking this course. Overall this class was not useful!
said the final exam will focus on info from after the midterm just to make 80% of the multiple choice from readings done in weeks 2-4. made you know 34 articles for the final exam and over 50 terms, basically impossible. The class was such jokes, honestly should've dropped when I had the option to, would've saved my sanity.
her grading makes no sense and doesn't explain what you did wrong or how to do better, doesn't post any examples of work and her slides are not helpful at all. the midterm isnt that bad but the final is awful considering its all information from the whole course. makes you do weekly group work but only marks 3/13 responses.
Her grading style is incomprehensible, I had to go to her office hours numerous times to ask for an explanation, feedback is not understandable nor negotiable no matter what you say your grade will remain the same. She does not upload lecture slides and expects assignments to be exactly the way she wants them without giving examples.
Dr. Neverson is kind of hardcore but it's because she KNOWS she is right and she delivers. Dr. Neverson truly is an expert in her field that she recognizes the systematic social inequalities within sociology. Therefore, she knows how to recognize and is an ally for all marginalized communities and knows how to pinpoint exact accommodations. Real.
I don't understand why she has bad reviews. She is very helpful outside of lecture. Participation matters because slides won't make sense if you're not in class. Average amount of assignments but you get good feedback to do better on the next. Gives thorough explanation. Overall good prof
Dr. Neverson is very professional and does things by the books. Read her assignments closely (every detail she gives points), understand the lectures by attending tutorials (she has great TAs), do NOT do her heavy assignments last minute and you will do fine.
Professor Neverson is a great! If you contact her outside of class or meet with her during office hours, she is very informative and helpful. I would recommend talking to her directly if you find yourself struggling as she clears up any confusion very well. Would definitely take a course with her again.
