Stewart Smith

Waterlooe University : Professor Stewart Smith (SOCWK221) and Jon Boyd (SOCWK220) are in direct contravention with Renison/Waterloo mandated grading policy. I have been denied grade petition based on overwhelming evidence against these professors, as a means for the administration to cover these two professors for reasons unknown to me.

Very helpful, very into social work very passionate of what he does, and you can tell! Very nice guy and professor.

Late rate, but never-the-less..I personally found him to be a pleasant guy, passionate about the material, he tries hard to help people understand the material, sometimes it worked, sometimes many of us were lost, but every time I went up to him personally to ask for clarification, he was more than willing to spend the time until I understood.

He's amazing! He has a dry sense of humour but it adds to his quirk. If you actually attend class, you will get an amazing grade.

Literally focusing on small passages in each week's wording and discuss meanings of specific plays on words. Often makes statements that contradicts the reading as if he has no idea the material he's teaching in class. Class is especially boring, yet blames the class each week for lack of participation. Really not adequate as an educator.

I found him to be a very nice teacher and willing to help if there is something that isn't clear.

I got a good mark in his class overall but I did not like him, rude and not willing to discuss issues when the class was confused or had questions about his marking schemes. I felt he marked my exam essay low because he didn?t like me and because I confronted in front of the class about his instruction clarity.

Contradicts himself when explaining what he wants in the assignment. One week he says something, the next week he says something else and then gives everyone a bad mark on that part of the assignments but what he wanted was never clear. He was not very structured in his lectures, he would not cover enough material and would often wait too long to cover previously read materials. He's a nice guy though.
