Interesting manner of conducting a philosophy class that benefits philosophy students. Take this professor if you want a dialogue about the subject and not just to take notes.
don't take this class if you value your sanity.
One of the best professors at TMU. Interesting discussions.
His lectures are super engaging and I've had some good conversations in class. He gave lots of room for discussion, not just listening. He's passionate and knowledgeable about philosophy, and it shows through not reading off of slides and giving thoughtful answers to questions
I'm a philosophy major and this is by far the worst philosophy prof I've experienced at TMU. First prof I've seen that comes to class without prepared notes or slides, types in a Google Doc while yapping and hardly attempts to engage the class. Did ok in the class but I know classmates struggled because of his teaching style. Didn't learn anything.
-Goes on long tangents and is a huge yapper -Spent 40 minutes of one lecture going on a tirade about AI -No lecture structure, slides, and doesn't give material -Confusing explanations and rambling instead of proper teaching
Extremely laid-back, yapper, but he explains his concepts well. I attended four classes total the entire semester and I still understood everything. READ!! But also you don't have to read you can just go to the lecture and he explains everything you need to know from the readings. T/F & multiple choice on all tests including final exam. One essay.
i didn't love the teaching style, but it was a somewhat low effort class (gpa booster!!). if you study for the quizzes and go over material for the essays you should be fine. you will get called out if you're on your phone or talking tho. but he says you don't have to be there, attendance is definitely not mandatory lol
Honestly did not enjoy this class too much, but the fact he is not a super tough grader made up for it. He does tend to go on long tangents like others mentioned and fails to get his point across often but if you just read and take notes on the article you'll be fine. The exam also was easy, you just picked one article out of three to study for.
No structure in his lectures, and he goes on unrelated tangents, which makes it difficult to take notes. He picks on students when they're on their phones, dozing off, etc. He's a relatively easy grader if your opinion aligns with his (to get a good mark, use an opinion he agrees with, even if you don't), and pop quizzes are mostly from lectures.
