Vappu Tyyska

Vappu is wonderful. She works hard to give us her best and she expects our best from us. She really wants us to learn and she truly cares. Ask questions and she will always help!

the class is easy for sociology students. she is an easy marker for essays, just write plain and cite everything. however her tests are hard. very detailed questions and usually all multiple choice so its tricky! If you can avoid taking her class, do it. btw she is not funny if you think she is then sadly you dont have great sense of humour.

She writes her own textbook for this course which means that she uses the book a lot. You are supposed to know everything about the book and also additional readings and movies. No midterm so it is a lot. Very hard course. She is very passionate about the material and you can tell she enjoys teaching. Always willing to help you and is very funny.

Not a helpful Prof at all. Doesn't post her lectures online and talks everyone to sheer boredom. Really obsessive with herself and isn't accommodating.

This professor is Ryerson's greatest asset. She is the best learning experience that I have had throughout my lengthy academic career. I urge anybody in the Arts department to take a class with her. Her teaching style is very helpful and her lectures are interesting. I looked forward to this class EVERY WEEK! I would take any class with her!

awesome prof! very entertaining and is enthusiastic about teaching. her m/c midterm and exam were slightly difficult b/c a lot came straight from a very wordy text but the group essays and individual essay will keep you with a good mark.
