I've had her a few times. She teaches a different style of history based on themes and modules which refreshing compared to only dates and names. She marks fairly (A-, B+ range) and teaches you how to write properly. Her readings are not directly related to lectures, but extremely helpful to read.
She was really, really dull. She'd drone on and on, and everybody would leave during the break. She doesn't know how to teach
She's a good lecturer & the course is quite interesting. The tests/essay is fair. Nice person.
What a attitude, I found her to be to out of touch with the today world. Her class was the worst I've every been in!
I enjoy her enthusiasm during classes, she's a very good lecturer. So it's impossible to not understand what she's talking about.
A great prof and a great class. The course is interesting and the tests and assignments are very fair. She knows her stuff very well and is very helpful if you need anything clarified or need help with the assignments. Best liberal study course I've taken to date and probably the best prof I've had in the four years at Rye.
Excellent prof! Explores interesting subject matters. Insightful, fair, fun course! Look forward to taking more classes with Prof Blake!
She's a good teacher and she definitely knows her stuff, but there is way too much spin going on here. There is nothing really wrong with teaching history for a leftist point of view, but she goes overboard. She glossed over a couple of really important people (JFK) for others that are little more than footnotes in history.
So I took this 1st/2nd year American history course in my final semester of my last year at Ryerson thinking it would be a breeze. I ended up with a B+ (only cause I pulled a 95 on my exam)Here are the class averages: 38% (quiz 1), 58% (quiz 2), 44% (essay Outline), 46% Essay 1, 42% participation, 44% final exam...If I was her, Id be embarassed...
