Susan is an excellent professor. She brings in her real life experiences and grounds it in the material she is teaching making for excellent learning. She is clear, direct and kind. Her course work is heavy and challenging but it has made me a better student.
Really good professor and helped make research courses a lot easier. She is gone now and has moved to Yellowknife to pursue opening up a new social work program. Thank you, Susan, for your hard work and dedication to social work research.
She was extremely explicit about what she wanted on the assignment— follow the criteria and you'll do well. She isn't the most engaging lecturer but she makes comprehensive slides that serve as a great study guide. Any and all direct interactions with her were fine— she's nice. She does take a while to respond and post grades
Susan is very bothersome via email. Instead of handing out marks THEN sending an email, she will send MULTIPLE emails promising to give marks back on a specific date and will fail to do so every time. Expect to wait weeks for marks. Class is also very boring and not interactive, just sits down and reads the slides. Attendance is unnecessary.
I don't appreciate how she over complicates things sometimes. Beginning the class, she tried to scare us by saying that you could easily fail her class. For the final assignment, after a month from handing it in, she sent an email saying multiple people failed, but then proceeded to take her sweet time to hand the assignments back. Worst.
This is a Social Work Professor I am surprised because her approach is non-flexible, always stating don't email me I am overwhelmed, and very self-centered with little regard for the student's experiences in her classroom.
This was a really tough class but Susan does her best to make the content relative and understandable. While attendance is not mandatory it is highly recommended you go to class as she takes examples she uses in class. For the quizzes. The quizzes are tough but if you review the slides it is helpful. Marks take forever to come back
Susan was a great professor for qualitative research. Although lectures spanned the complete 3 hours (with a break!), she made lectures very engaging and didn't just read off the slides. She has real research experience that she used to give us examples. Quizzes were fairly easy, the group assignment was the real challenge!
Is not accessible outside and does neglects students at a time that we need them. My entire semester was stressful only cause of Susan. I would not recommend! I took the asynchronous section and it was an absolute nightmare. Worst prof ever!
Susan is very knowledgable on social work ethics, the content of the course was very interesting. Very caring, accommodating to students and great class discussions. Grades took a long time to be given back and she is harder to reach outside of class. Group project at the end is long.
