She is an amazing prof. People out here judging her for the content she teaches but she is so knowledgeable and if u are in this course u need to show up. This is an important class for this field of work. Yes she's tough but she shows she really cares and in a field like social work isn't that important.she changed my learning and view on research
These lectures are quite boring. She's nice but very prideful at the same time. Doesn't like when students get high marks.
let's just say she doesn't take criticism well. but honestly, she's one of the more decent professors for this class, which somehow makes it worse. she's a nice person though(-_-)
Class only had 3 things, 2 online tests, which were straightforward if you had notes. There was 1 group assignment which wasn't particularly hard, but not easy either as it involves lots of reading. I think most people got 70s on that assignment. She seems nice, but her lectures are quite boring & she doesn't like people that don't show up.
Purnima is excellent! She was so willing to meet after class to help with the assignments. I loved how liberally she cancels class for zoom in the event of a storm. She peppers her lectures with real life examples. Clearly super passionate about research and her students.
She is a very passionate professor but sends guidelines for the group assignment last minute and was not accommodating due it not be fair to other students yet still provided other students with accommodations later. She leaves some slides out so you have to attend class to have access to those. She has experience in the field and uses examples.
Overall, she was a good prof. The material in this class is difficult if you have no prior knowledge of stats and research methods, but she tries her hardest to clarify and spend time answering every single question. Extremely accommodating and really nice and sweet. However, she is a slow talker and a bit boring. Group papers were marked by a TA.
She literally emailed out new instructions for a 3000 word report worth 35% of our grade less than 24 hours before it was due. I get at least three emails a week from her just correcting her mistakes or adding new guidelines for already assigned work. She's a very nice person who is knowledgable. But avoid her if you can. Very chaotic.
Slow talker. We covered last week's material and is always behind on lectures. But provides helpful analogies and examples to concepts. Group assignment was pretty straight forward and the TAs help you a lot. You should study beforehand to do well amazing on the quiz. Lectures are heavily focused on the textbook.
Lectures were recorded, but did not offer anything that I did not get from just reviewing the slides on my own. Experience was soured by unprepared and condescending TAs and Prof got very defensive when the majority of the class expressed this. Understandable I suppose but better communication was needed all around from Prof/TAs and between them.
