The most difficult professor I had. Had him during peak covid, refused to let students who had to leave the country to join zoom and couldn't buy his book because he refused to make it available outside of Canada. Main reason I didn't choose REM, I didn't want to risk having him again. Such an unlikable prof, will ruin a whole major for you.
Murtaza is an amazing professor and lecturer. All of his lectures were extremely interesting and engaging. This was my first real estate course and luckily the course content was not too difficult and he broke things down so everything was easily understandable for someone with little background knowledge. I highly recommend taking his class!!!
Very good prof. He is very knowledgeable about all course topic and his lectures are very engaging. Although the textbook is his own, it is still very interesting but not necessary to do good in the course. This course has amazing TA's with weekly tutoring sessions that are super helpful. Highly recommend this course if you are interested in REM.
Will embarrass you in front of the whole class for no reason other than personal satisfaction. Assumes people are cheaters by the way they look. Took this class because I was interested in real estate but i regret taking it after the way I've been treated. Coming from a final year student with a 3.9 CGPA, save your dignity.
Has changed previous format. Quizzes are closedbooked, not enough time to complete even half. Prof makes you buy his own textbook which is useless for the course. Things are already difficult for everyone during these times and proff is making it unnecessarily harder. Very dissapointed, didn't live up to the good reviews i read before enrolling
Good prof. The class was really easy if you have taken a finance class before as it uses excel( if you are online). If your interested in real estate you will like this class. Prof was pretty good not sure about some of the negative reviews he just didn't like that many people weren't showing up to the lectures. btw don't need to buy the textbook.
Strange class. Murtaza is nice but a shrewd business man, the textbook is his own personal book that he sells on amazon, so just a money grab basically. As for the course, it's relatively easy, both midterm and final were easier than expected. Course contains TVM and Mortgage Calculations which you would do well to focus on as they are 50% of exams
Murtaza is a good prof however, make sure you practice the TVM/Mortgage math as he did not do enough prep for that for the final, other than that interesting and, easy course, you will need to buy his book or find a PDF for the class. The theory was easy and, a good intro course to REM major
The prof was more worried about catching people cheating then actually teaching. He'll finish lecture early, and still continue to talk about nonsense. For an elective course this was the hardest course I have ever taken at Ryerson. Course outline said multiple choice final but he changed it two weeks before the final. AVOID THIS PROF
Pretty straightforward class, if you follow along with lectures and do the assignments you will be fine. 90% of the midterm was taken straight from material covered in lectures. He could be more punctual with returning grades but other that that overall was a good class and I definitely learned a lot.
