I had him for one class and it was fine, but after working with him outside of class, he is rude and disorganized. It feels like he does not care about anyone else except himself. He often reads off his phone to introduce important people or lead a group and it's just so disappointing.
A very knowledgeable professor who seems to be passionate about what he's teaching. Although some lessons were abstract (similar to SSH105-Critical Thinking), he does a good job of expanding and ensuring everyone understands. As a STEM student his explanations were clear and helpful. Would take this prof again!
Dr. Russo is clearly passionate and knowledgable about the topics covered in this class which allowed for a fun experience despite the challenging content in the course. He gives great feedback when needed and he is open to questions during the break and after class. If you come to class, ask questions, and do the work you'll do great!
Prof. Russo is very knowledgeable about his area of expertise in music. From this, the course content is pretty heavy, but the textbook explains things (highly recommend getting it). He is a nice man who is passionate about this topic and it was wonderful to learn from him. I would take this course if you're really interested, not simply for fun
overall he's a decent prof! he's clearly passionate and knowledgeable, and answers all questions. he conveys material in an understandable way, and its cool he does in-person interviews! course evaluations are very fair (3 reflections, midterm, final). you have to attend class because he touches on detail thats important for midterm questions!
Dr Russo is very knowledgable in the field which made his lectures very interesting. The content was very challenging at first especially if you don't have a music background, but he was always willing to answer questions and have class discussions. It is also more bio-focused compared to other psych classes, so be aware of that before taking.
This class may seem intimidating at the start when you learn some of the music lingo, and the physics of sound; however, trust me this is a great course to take! His lectures are a joy to attend, the course does not have a research paper to write (instead its 4 thought papers which are done in a tutorial style format). Definitely recommend!
thought papers take up 30% and you can never say the right thing, he's looking for expert answers eventhough we're students. you get the question before to prepare, yet for anything you say on it no matter how small of a statement, it can dock you. losing marks over a minor thought because its not over explained (as its not the main point) is silly
Great prof! He's super passionate about the material and his lectures are super interesting. My only problem was the fact that he can ramble on a lot, and his lecture slides are disorganized. While going to class is essentially optional, making sense of his slides alone can be really difficult. Loved the class, learned a lot, just heavy lectures.
Amazing prof, but not for everyone. I'm in engineering so it was very easy for me, but hard for PSY students w/o any knowledge about sound/music. He's very kind, understanding and accessible, will help if you ask. Very passionate about music psy. Lectures fun, engaging, inspiring. Exams are easy if you know the terms well. No need for textbook.
