I liked SSH105 but the material is not for everyone. Very content heavy, hard to grasp, requires a lot of practice and studying. Prof's way of teaching is slow and can be dry, but I enjoyed it. Slides are not detailed, he speaks most of the content so class is mandatory. Whole grade is based off 3 tests and final exam. Responds to emails fast.
the course isn't hard at all, it's the teaching that made it hard. both the professor and TA often come across to unsure concepts and explanations that felt more confusing than helpful. It ends up being harder to follow than it needs to be, and it's difficult to feel like much was actually gained from a course that's supposed to be 'mandatory'.
It's honestly impressive how a mandatory course can feel so optional in terms of value. Attending lectures turned into a real exercise in commitment, especially with the “challenging” structure of the tests. The TA's explanations sometimes added confusion rather than clarity. Not entirely surprising that attendance tends to be…selective. I give up.
He knows the material, but the class was genuinely tough to get through. Lectures were dry, the grading was extremely strict, and everything had to be done exactly his way. He made simple topics feel way more complicated than they needed to be, which made the whole course stressful. STUDY EVERYDAY.
Finals are approaching & I love this class so far. Not everything on the exams is covered in the lecture so you need the textbook, but he covers the more complex concepts. He takes his time with the material, is very open to questions, and offers a LOT of practice questions. If you memorize definitions you should do well. My TA was also amazing.
Brutal.... Just brutal. Read the textbook if you want a high mark
Pretty good lecturer, explains course concepts in a way that I found pretty clear and easy to understand. His delivery and presentation of the content can be a little dry at times, although I'd almost consider that a positive in SSH105 since there's a lot of information to cover in each lecture. Overall a good professor as far as I'm concerned.
Had him at 8am and really struggled. Ended with an alright mark but the class genuinely made no sense and even the TA in tutorials did not know how to help students.
I had an extremely hard time with his class last semester. You truly have to pay attention in class and GO to the lectures or else you will struggle. He wrote his own textbook and I found the textbook way more helpful than his actual lecture slides. Goodluck!
He wrote his own textbook. No assignments, just tests. Go to the lectures because he makes zero sense on the slides and doesn't care enough to expand on any topic unless you're in front of him. If you miss one lecture you're gonna be lost and confused for the rest of the semester. My TA was a goat. Just memorize and you'll be fine.
