She is a very understanding & accommodating professor. I was very scared about this class because it focuses on in-class therapy simulations, but she created a safe environment & made it feel normal to blank or not know what to say. All the assignments are about the simulation. They're not hard, but you need to be able to apply the readings well.
Very nice and super insightful about the intersections of different identities and how that relates to fashion. There is a participation mark, but it's not worth much, so I missed a few lectures but still did very well.
genuinely the best prof ive had
May Friedman is a very special professor. So amazing, so genuine, so exceptional. The course about fat studies was the best class I have taken in my university career so far. Highly recommend her to everyone.
May is the best professor I've had in my academic career. Super understanding and genuine person who truly cares for her students. Easy grader as she just cares that you put genuine thought and effort into your work. Highly recommend :) (Classes I've had with her not listed)
May is an amazing prof, she is so helpful if you have any questions. I found this class to be great and very fun.
May is such a gem, she is so amazing, I never met anyone like her. She is so genuine and very passionate about fat activism. She is a fair marker and she marks really fast. She is really accommodating and would make sure that her students are comfortable and very caring She is honestly the best prof out of everyone I've had in social work.
The best professor i've had in my 4 years. You can tell she really cares about her students and that she is passionate about what she is teaching. So kind and helpful and teaches in a way that makes you want to learn.
Dr. Friedman embodies what one expects from a social work professor. She is calm, knowledgeable, and always willing to learn and listen from students. Her assignments provide space to introspect and ruminate on how to be better and ethical professionals. She also brings in the lens of critical disability and fat studies which is much needed
May is one of the most caring and understanding professors at Ryerson. She makes you work for your mark but is fair and reasonable. She genuinely cares about each and every one of her students and always makes lectures engaging and thought-provoking. Being from a non social work background, this class was very eye-opening for me.
