Dr. Raney is an AMAZING professor!! I learned a lot about legislatures and rational choice theory. Would totally take again. Highly recommended.
Great prof she's really nice but she's a bit of a harsh grader
her lectures are engaging and interesting, and i've definitely learned a lot from her. the two tests require you to memorize the readings + author names so it is a bit difficult but it didn't take me long to do so. the assignment was also easy to do. raney is an amazing prof and i 100% learned a lot from this class. i thoroughly enjoyed this class.
Class was beautifully constructed; lectures are worth it+counted for attendance (2 freebies!). Grading criteria (for 2 tests worth 30%ea.) was not super clear, so ask what she is looking for! Felt she graded based on what SHE felt was important from readings. The 30% paper is gen FUN! Not the most accommodating with deadlines. Would take again tho!
Professor Raney was one of my favourite profs during my undergrad. I liked that her classes were relevant to current events. I'd take this course again if I could.
Prof. Raney knows a lot about the topic and went out of her way to make the class enjoyable and relevant to the program.
Raney is a mixed bag - she is kind, pretty approachable and overall upbeat but also quite nitpicky, can be a tougher grader, and big expectations on participation. At a Masters level, her mandatory participation (and expectation of a 4-page reading summary for the week you miss) seems unnecessary. Wouldn't take if you're not gonna participate often
She knows a lot about women in politics. I hope to take another class with her before I graduate..
Great class! She makes it so relevant to what's going on in politics today. Loved it.
Tracey Raney was honestly one of my favourite profs during my undergrad. POG442 is a really in depth and interesting class, and she keeps it fun and engaging throughout. Definitely disagree with the other comments about her being monotone, but her class is reading heavy. As long as you keep up with the lectures and readings the class is an easy A
