Ciavatta's not a no-effort mark if you're looking for that, but he's top 2 best teachers I've had in my life- one you remember years down the line. He helped me so much to become a better writer and to improve my analysis when I brought my essay ideas to office hours. His lectures are incredibly engaging and stick with you. If you care, he cares
AMAZING professor. He cares deeply about philosophy, and it shows in his lectures. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you want to pass, I recommend attending at least most lectures, as the lectures only discuss what's on the exams. Very intelligent and entertaining! TA's mark kind of hard, but nothing too terrible.
dropped this class after hearing this dude talk for a half hour.
SUPERR TOUGH GRADER!!!! he likes to follow the traditional way of teaching, you cannot find anything on D2L ever because he does not use or post anything on there. communication is only done by email and its always late too. please try to avoid him. if you need a lower liberal class in philosophy i recommend prof thomas hart
Reviews were deceiving. He changed the whole outline of the course
Super great professor. Really smart, funny, and engages with the text in an understandable (but still complex) way. Would definitely take him again.
Literally the best prof. He's very kind. His ability to explain hard concepts so easily is unmatched. Also, he's so engaging and creates such great class discourse. You'll leave the class being a thought daughter/son. Love this king, fr.
David is a great prof! Everything is open book, you just print out the readings he posts on D2L, for the final he gives questions before which you have to prepare for. One essay assignment. He explains his lectures really good and they're interesting! Tough marker though.. but otherwise he's really nice and amazing! Recommend him!!
One of the best professors I've ever had. Took my first-ever philosophy course with him and he made it very fun and accessible. Loved his lectures and could easily listen to him for hours, it does not get boring, even if you know nothing about philosophy.
