At one point, he started using AI to teach. It is quite strange, given the fact that the nature of real-world computer networks and network security requires very theoretical heavy and nuanced answers to complex situations, yet he'll penalize you if it's not written his way. Expect like a B or a C.
COE817 is a really interesting course. Truman Yang is a good guy but often struggles to get ideas across to students. Seems like he isn't fully confident in the content himself, often leads to him giving incorrect explanations regarding certain topics. With the exams, his grading is "my way or the highway". Expect the exam to tank your grade.
he is not that bad just promise yourself that you will attend his lectures for first two weeks. Also he is really a good person that wants you to learn.
This guy is also known as Truman. He has a thick accent that can still be understood. The course is pretty easy, but the exams are all on paper meaning you would have to code on paper. A positive about Truman though is that his slides contained questions that were both on the midterm and the final. To be honest, his lectures aren't bad, just boring
I'm not sure why he gets bad reviews. Aside from his lectures which may need review, he's an attentive prof who always tries to ensure his students' success. It's better to have him than most others.
Very hard to understand the professor's explanation throughout the semester, I'm talking mumble rap. For a professor who "bases" his midterm on his lectures, his midterms are wildly different from his "sample/practice" midterms. Super annoying to sit and decipher the professors explanation before beginning to understand the course modules. 3/10
Dr Yang is okay. if you have TA Brad drop the course
I hope he gets fired. Worst prof at ryerson, do not take his course he does not curve.
If you're electrical, avoid him at all cost. It is not an easy course, especially in the labs, and cungang is a horrible prof to ask questions. He doesn't know what students are ever asking and even if he does reply it's too hard to understand him. He's also very rude in his emails.
Horrible prof and worst tas. Avoid this class with cungang at all costs, but if for some reason you still take it then avoid the TA Brad. He's condescending and rude and is unrealistically hard in marking. The whole course is a joke honestly, prof and brad should all be fired.
