This guy is the absolute worst prof you'll ever witness in your first year. He does not post anything on d2l. The d2l is basically a blank classroom. No notes, no old exams, no lecture slides. Absolutely 0 information on the d2l. Midterm is medium difficulty and Final Exam is very difficult.
Dr. Chen has a very heavy accent; you have to really pay attention to understand him. He has handwritten notes/slides, but does not post any of the lecture material. You basically just have to study the textbook. I recommend taking pictures of his notes, as they are a good summary of the textbook. Watch Nikolai on YouTube, the best!
I swear this guy sneaks in foreign words. His accent is the thickest thing you will ever hear. I need subtitles when I'm in his class. But he is a very nice guy and cares a lot about his students and the best prof for MTL 200. AVOID if you can't understand his accent!!!!!
His lectures are basically useless, use old exams and old study halls led by that one aerospace upper year (my goat) to study and you will easily pass. His midterms he repeats questions from his old ones so make sure you find his old ones, for exam just find all old exams and memorize questions and solutions and you will easily pass with a 50+.
Final exam has a lot of weight, awful class because he is literally impossible to understand. Avoid at all costs please, I'm begging you seriously.
the best teacher I had since being homeschooled
If you struggle with accents in the slightest DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF, i swear he doesn't always speak english. GO TO LECTURE he doesn't post anything in d2l and just reads straight from textbook
Dr. Chen's lectures are mediocre at best and his thick accent can often make it hard to understand him. You will often need to read the textbook in order to understand this class. However, he is a very kind person when you talk to him and his midterms are often quite easy. Overall, he is a decent professor, would recommend him.
His accent is the worse thing in the world. Literally so hard to understand and that's only if you CAN understand him. He posted no notes online when majority of the class and evaluations were online. He literally teaches off the textbook and nothing else so unless you have a copy of the textbook, you'll fail. Midterms and Finals are easy though.
I couldn't understand most of what this guy was saying. The only good thing about him is his midterm is easy (final is made by all 3 profs). I didn't attend lectures after the first one and the last ones had 15 people attend. The textbook is all you need.
